So what’s it to be? It was on the 15th August 2016 that ghillie Paul Hume saw his last sea-liced salmon of that season here. He was far from alone. It seems incredible now that, after that date, hardly a fresh salmon came into the Tweed, this supported by the research netting at Paxton which not only caught almost nothing after August, but gave up in October because they knew there was nothing there. Are we on the cusp of the same thing happening again? Some (wrongly) blamed...
