Despite Birgham Dub catching 12 salmon up to Saturday, and then a remarkable 9 on Saturday, 21 for the week, the evidence is that the river was being very lightly fished. In similar vein, nobody wanted to take our fishing on Saturday, so I asked an old friend, Simon Wood, to come and stay, to fish for the day. We had 2 miles of river to ourselves, which was very spoiling, and, mercifully for once, nobody on the other bank lobbing metal at us. We caught one each, on full floaters and no....
