The Monteviot Beat is situated south of the A68 downstream from the Cleikimin Bridge towards Nisbet Village and flows gently through a beautiful stretch of Border country in sight of the historic Penielheugh (Waterloo) Monument. The Beat embraces approximately 2.5 miles of the River Teviot and offers superb salmon, sea trout, trout and grayling fishing for six rods with an option to take exclusive use of the water. There are ten named pools all producing fine catches, the five best being Monteviot Pool, Pike Pool, Jedfoot Pool, Black Bridge and The Hutches. There are two fishing huts and one boat for the use of the anglers and a part-time gillie is available.
Also available is the 3 star self catering cottage known as The Nisbet Old Schoolhouse. This can be let on a weekly basis together with exclusive fishing for six rods at a special discounted rate. The cottage is situated in the peaceful village of Nisbet approximately five miles north east of Jedburgh. The house is detached and comprises sitting room, a large dining area, kitchen, 3 twin bedded double bedrooms, upstairs bathroom and ground floor shower room. The cottage is well equipped for a fishing parties needs with plenty of space to wash and store your catch, storage areas for rods and waders are also provided.
