This middle Tweed beat has one of the most magnificent settings possible. It lies below Scotts View made famous by Sir Walter Scott. This was his favourite spot to stop his carriage and gaze out over the river Tweed meandering below him through the beautiful border countryside. The beat lies in a wooded gorge that keeps it almost completely hidden from the outside world. Stunning trees with spectacular autumn colours and amazing wildlife make this a great beat for people wanting peaceful fishing in beautiful surroundings.

The fishing includes one and a half miles of the right bank with eight named pools. Nearly all of it is fishable and it copes well with low water, whilst still containing sufficient fishing for high water conditions. 20lbs+ salmon are caught each year from this beat. To gain the most enjoyment from this beat it is important that fishers can spey cast and are competent waders. There is a hut and a toilet on the beat with a good access road to the hut.

The beat is fished by four rods in the Autumn in two beats, upper and lower, which are alternated each lunchtime, There is one Ghillie looking after each two rods rods. The minimum let is two rods for three days.

Between the start of January and the end of September the beat is let on a Syndicate basis with Syndicate members fishing the same day each week. Please contact us for more details of the Syndicate.
