Week beginning 1 November 2021
Monday 1st November. That’s another month away, 83 for October and nothing remotely clean let alone fresh. 5’1” this morning and very dirty, not much more to say about it.
Tuesday 2nd November. 3’8” and dirty grey colour still not worth fishing down here. I’m off work with inflamed tendons in my right arm a bit like tennis elbow in my shoulder and it is agony, Lee Ross standing in to help Paul until I’m fit enough to go back. Nothing caught below Upper Makerstoun today and not much caught above for that matter. It’s to be colder and dry for rest of week so it will drop and clear eventually.
Wednesday 3rd November. A mild enough day with the Lees gauge sitting at 3’1” and a bit grey colour to the water, Paul said he’d seen some fish but no pulls, one was caught at South Wark but the next nearest fish was at Bemersyde so they are not exactly piling in. Just seen on web one at Tillmouth today.
Thursday 4th November. A nice mild day again and calm. 2’9” or thereabouts and nice and clean. There was a 12lber caught at the top of the temple this morning and I presume that was it as not heard of any more. I visited the physiotherapist this afternoon to see what can be done with my shoulder, it seems that 20 years or more of less rowing would help, old age and wear and tear is the problem along with inflamed tendons in the rotor cuff.
Friday 5th November. Another mild day today with a bit of sunshine, it’ll be around 2’6” on the Lees gauge, I heard they had a 10lber from the temple today so well done whoever got it. I walked the dogs up to Lower North Wark at lunchtime as I’m bored sitting about, Calum told me they had 2 yesterday and saw one or two in the morning but had blanked so far this morning. A bit of wind and rain on the forecast for tomorrow.
Saturday 6th November. A very windy day, there had to be something wrong as Michael Black was fishing today. A 14lb hen from the temple this morning. The rods packed up at lunchtime as too windy. Other news I’ve heard is a couple of clean fish caught at Upper Floors today and as I didn’t believe him Colin Bell sent me a photo to prove it, he usually tells me every one he gets is a licer.
