Week beginning 8th October
Almost there, Back of the Wall
Monday morning. Usual chaos in the hut, where am I going? what line? water temp? Height? Is it clear? How many last week? Where’s my bloody waders, Have you any spare leader material? Turn your hearing aid on you deaf #@. Anyway got them sorted and off we went into a lovely day on Tweed, James Long getting 8 from the Cauld before lunch and another two to give him ten for the day and his name in lights, we ended the day with twenty seven from 18lbs to 3lbs mostly fresh and on a real mix of flies, just put one in front of the fish! The only disappointment was the Temple only one pull, yet fish showing the full length of it.
Tuesday started the same as Monday frosty and bit of a nip in the air but we soon got amongst them and ended the day with 19 which was excellent given the conditions, even had 4 from the Temple in glass like conditions, only fished the Temple as Terry Harper likes to get his bum in a boat seat.
Wednesday—Another lovely morning I thought we would struggle a bit as it’s so clean and bright but another 19 fish landed and mostly fresh/liced the only 2 really old fish were from the Slap on a big Sunray Shadow late afternoon by myself. With the water temp still 42degs we are still on wet 2 type lines in places but intermediate lines are perhaps more suited to most of the pools now the river is dropping back a bit. Pictured below is Phil Hinton playing and returning a lovely fresh cock fish from the Glide (have to put some boys back for the girls)
