1. On the first day please be at the Rod Hut at 9.15 a.m., where the Boatman will meet you.
2. There will be one Boatman provided up to end of March and two from April to November. Additional Boatmen may be obtained if required and if sufficient notice is given of your requirement.
3. Fishing is from 9.30 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. although later fishing will normally be allowed. The owner of The Lees reserves the right to fish with one rod after 5.00 p.m., the Temple Pool on Saturdays and the Annay on weekdays. No boats will be used between 1.00 p.m. and 2.00 p.m. when the Boatmen have their lunch.
4. For information on what equipment to bring please consult the Boatmen – Paul Hume 07747 347425 or Malcolm 07786 598475 (April to November). tweedbeats.com provides information on latest catches, where to stay etc.
5. Fishing is from the left bank only except for a small section in the middle of the beat where there is some double bank fishing. The maximum number of Rods allowed to fish at any one time is four.
6. Remember the main regulations which apply to the River Tweed: On or before February 14th and on or after September 15th it is only possible to fish with a fly. No prawns, shrimps or worms can be used at any time and gaffs are banned. The Tweed Angling Code will also apply. It is now illegal to kill/take a salmon before 31 March and to sell rod caught fish at any time of year. Our own rules allow spinning (downstream only) when the Lees gauge is 1ft 10 or above.
7. Please ensure you tell the Boatman the full details of any fish that you catch, so that accurate records can be kept.
8. Under Health & Safety guidelines owners are required to provide lifejackets for all those using fishing boats and to recommend their use. We have therefore provided the latest type of compact lifejacket, which will not impair your ability to fish in comfort, and we strongly advise you to wear one when using a boat and indeed when wading.
9. If you have any problems with your fishing, please tell the Boatmen straightaway and, if you do not get a satisfactory response, please telephone me immediately (07597 487427), so I have time to act before you leave.
