HOURS
Fishing may commence any time after 9.30 a.m. and must finish at 5.00 p.m. In brighter conditions it may be possible to take a longer lunch break and fish later into the evening by arrangement with the ghillies. A maximum of 8 hours fishing is allowed per day.In the event that evening fishing is allowed it is the tenant’s responsibility to ensure the fishing hut is secured on leaving the beat. A catch record must be made on the cards supplied and returned to the boatmen.
LURES
All lures are permitted between 15th February and 14th September. However, to spin on the Floors beats the permission of the boatmen is required and this will only be granted once a fly has been tried or in very unfavourable fly water conditions. Fly only from 1st to 14th February and from 15th September to 30th November.
RODS
Four rods per beat allowed. The Duke of Roxburghe retains a fifth rod on the beat for use by himself or his family.
TWEED ANGLING CODE, CONSERVATION MEASURES AND GYRODACTYLUS SALARIS
Rods are required to abide by the Tweed Angling Code. This includes the Spring Salmon Conservation measures and it should be noted that these have been amended with effect from 1st February 2011. All fish caught before 30th June must be returned to the water.
It also includes requirements to help prevent an outbreak of Gyrodactylus Salaris. Further details can be found on www.rtc.org.uk/Management/Tweed_Codes/tweed_codes.html. Please note that on arrival at the beat each rod in your party will be asked to sign the Gyrodactylus salaris declaration book and fishing cannot commence until this has been completed.
RENT
50% of the rent stated VAT will be invoiced for payment by return. The remaining 50% balance should be paid at least two months prior to the commencement of fishing.
In line with general practice, no refund will be given for fishing spoilt by inclement weather or poor water conditions. No refund will be given if rods decide not to come.
SUB-LETTING
Sub-letting without prior approval is prohibited.
SAFETY
Rods are required to wear safety flotation harnesses or jackets when fishing. The Estate has a supply of harnesses available for use by guests.
It is at the sole discretion of the boatmen as to whether the river is safe to fish and their decision will be final and must be adhered to by all fishermen.
LIABILITY
The Estate will accept no responsibility for any loss of belongings or for accidents to persons, personal property or vehicles while fishing on the river or using Estate tracks.
DOGS
Tenants are particularly requested to keep dogs under strict control.
GENERAL
It is requested that any complaints should be made to the Factor, who will welcome suggestions for improvements of the fishing or the services supplied by the proprietors.
ACCOMMODATION
It is a requirement that rods stay at the Roxburghe Hotel and the fishing booking will not be accepted until confirmation of the Hotel booking has been returned and payment of the 50% deposit received. In the event of cancellation this deposit is non-refundable. The remaining 50% balance should be paid at least two months before the commencement of fishing. In the event of cancellation or early departure this payment is again non-refundable.
